Group 9: Public Art for Sustainablity

Creating public arts for sustainablity is a theme for our group project.
It is time for our civilizatoin to rethink the way we live, work, travel, design, build and consume. To think that we are doing our part simply by driving a hybrid car and recycling our paper, bottles, and cans is a wrong illusion. For many years, environmentalists have been telling us to do more with less in order to make change happen. This is simply not enough. As a designer and a citizen caring about our community and future, we are going to have to fundamentally change the way we design our products, industries, and cities.
This will be our fundamental concept for our project and try to create what we can see in Seoul 2020.
We will place artifacts, continuously creating energy/electricity by people's movement and power, in public space. We will not only approach this project from a designer's perspective considering public arts and aesthetics of public space but also from an ecological environmentalist dealing with a higher awareness of the energy issue in society.
